As we reflect on 2023, I would like to share some highlights and achievements:
- Our customer On Time Delivery (OTD) across the network improved by 3%
- We had a mid-year facility expansion in Chattanooga, TN (KCHA), with the opening of a beautiful new hangar and support shops
- Our training investment year-over-year is on track to increase by over 20%
- We are wrapping up our first Emerging Leader training and development series
- Our OSHA recordable injury rate across our workforce decreased by 7%
In looking toward 2024, as an enterprise, we will sharpen our focus on our culture, mission, and values. West Star’s strong culture and values have been a core part of its success over the years, so we want to ensure we are keeping these front and center as we continue to execute key components of our strategic plan.
Some of the exciting things on the horizon for 2024 are:
- Launching the West Star Academy (WSAA), where we will be training our own technicians
- Opening a new hangar and new and expanded support shops in East Alton, IL (KALN)
- Adding some additional capacity in Chattanooga, TN (KCHA)
- Implementing a Safety Management System (SMS) across the enterprise

In addition to these key items, we have a number of other operational initiatives underway that are focused on customer experience, efficiency, and further adoption of innovative technologies.
It is an honor to be with West Star and share these successes and the roadmap ahead. Expect big things from West Star and our affiliates in 2024.
